At Kates Hill, in line with our school value of ‘Leading Together’, we believe in empowering our pupils to become confident, responsible and active members of our school community.  We have recently rebranded our School Councillor team, who are now known as the Junior Leadership Team (JLT). The JLT plays a vital role in shaping school life and giving children a genuine voice in decision-making.

As part of our rebranding, each junior leader has been given the opportunity to act as a Subject Ambassador. After meeting with the team, we discussed the subjects they felt passionate about and would like to take a lead in. Following thoughtful consideration, each junior leader was allocated a subject, with the intention that they will work closely with the teacher who leads that curriculum area. They have now met their respective subject leads and will take part in monitoring activities, as well as gathering and leading pupil voice for their assigned subject.

What else does the JLT do?

The JLT will continue to organise whole-school events such as Anti-Bullying Week, charity days and awareness days. Through this new structure, we aim to support our learners in developing their leadership, teamwork and communication skills, while giving them a strong sense of pride and ownership within our school community.
