Kates Hill is part of Dudley Academies Trust, a successful a growing organisation that also runs four secondary academies in the local area. The Trust is sponsored by Dudley College of Technology, one of the most successful further education colleges in the UK.
The college enrols around 12,000 students each year across four thousand academic and vocational programmes, on both a full and part-time basis. Ofsted rated as “outstanding” in the most recent 2017 inspection, success rates for learners, across all programmes, are on or significantly above national benchmarks.
The College provides a wide range of technical vocational programmes with over 95 per cent of our 16-18 year old full-time learners moving on to higher/further education or employment. For those who study A’ levels with us through our dedicated Dudley Sixth provision, 80 per cent choose to continue to university or move on to the college’s own higher education courses. The college also offers a number of employability programmes to help adults return to work.
Dudley College is the lead Further Education institution in the Black Country and Marches Institute of Technology (IoT) a major new development based at the heart of the Black Country. The IoT offers a wide range of high quality technical education programmes with clear pathways to skilled jobs in Advanced Engineering & Manufacturing, Modern Methods of Construction and Medical Engineering & Healthcare.
In February 2020 the college was awarded the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education in recognition of its contribution to the economy of the West Midlands through large scale advanced vocational and technical education. Its Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Assured (STEM) ® status is also recognition that we are delivering high-quality education and training in all of these areas.
The college actively assists Dudley Academies Trust with a variety of support services, sporting activities, careers events, facilities, management expertise and governance.
